[Under Construction]

There have been in fact two meetings of the Parish Council since my last report.  In order to meet Wokingham Borough Council deadlines, a special meeting was called on 30th January to approve the Precept for 2008-9.  The Parish Council is always conscious of its financial responsibilities and was, therefore, pleased to approve a Parish Council Tax, which, at £17.17 for a Band “D” property, has remained virtually unchanged for five years.

The Main Meeting on 21st February, was once again a fairly routine affair, except, perhaps, for a report on the burning of the Rides Community building.  Rev. Graham Robinson addressed the meeting and explained that the Baptist Church has funding in place and is ready to go, but WBC has not yet released the land.

The bus shelter on Barkham Ride is to have its roof replaced, and there may be a new bus stop opposite the existing one near the Finchampstead Road roundabout.

Pinch points on Waverley Way are to be removed and speed cushions installed.

The Parish Council has purchased a projector to be used mainly by the Planning Committee, so instead of six or eight people poring over a set of plans on a table, we shall be able to see them projected on to a large screen.

There will be an opportunity to see the projector in use at the Annual Gathering on Wednesday, 26th March at St James Church Centre, Church Lane.  This is an opportunity for all parishioners to find out what the Parish Council has been doing in the past year, to ask questions, meet other interested people and to enjoy a glass of wine.  Do come along!

Cllr Chris Driver
