[Under Construction]

Finchampstead Parish Council met at California Ratepayers’ Hall on Wednesday, 1st March. The Council was addressed by a group of residents who were disappointed by Wokingham District Council’s decision not to relocate Emmbrook School to the south of Wokingham.   The Parish Council promised to consider the matter.

The Parish Council has not been successful in finding land for allotments, but the search continues!

Cllr. Lauraine Newcombe, Chairman of the Planning Committee, reported that planning applications for more than a replacement dwelling in Finchampstead are now being refused by Wokingham District Council because of the Thames Basin Heath implications.  This seems almost too good to be true, but how long will it last?  All may be clearer after the Planning Committee has met with an official from Wokingham District Council on 28th March.  Watch this space!

For many years it has been the custom to alternate Finchampstead Parish Council meetings between California Ratepayers’ Hall and Finchampstead Memorial Hall.  However, councillors have agreed that, as it is necessary to start meetings earlier, and as the Ratepayers’ Hall is booked until 8pm every evening, all Main Council meetings will be held at 7.30 pm at Finchampstead Memorial Hall on the 3rd Thursday of the month.  The next Main Council meeting, therefore, will be on Thursday, 20th April, but committees will continue to meet at the Ratepayers’ Hall at 8 pm.

Finally, I must apologise for not having mentioned the Annual Gathering in last month’s report.  This will take place on Thursday, 30th March at 8pm at the Finchampstead Memorial Hall, and is an opportunity for parishioners to see reports of the Parish Council activities during the year and to ask questions of Councillors.  Unfortunately, by the time this magazine is published, the Annual Gathering will have taken place, although it has been advertised on notice boards.  Sorry!
