If you have ever wondered what to put or not to put into your recycling boxes then this page will help you.

Due to advanced sorting, any of the items below can now be placed in the same box
   
ü Plastic milk containers ü Newspapers and magazines

ü Plastic squash, fizzy, still water and vegetable oil bottles

ü Cardboard packaging (but not polystyrene)
ü Plastic washing-up liquid, fabric softener/conditioner, shampoo and bleach bottles ü Cereal packets (but not the plastic liners)
ü Steel and aluminium drinks and food cans ü Telephone directories and Yellow Pages
ü Containers with these HDPE or PET symbols on the bottom ü Catalogues/envelopes/junk mail (no plastic sleeves)
  ü Soap powder and frozen food boxes


Don't put any of the following in the recycling boxes:

û Carrier / plastic bags
û Margarine and ice cream tubs
û Cling film
û Plastic wrappers
û Plastic toys and other plastic articles
û Yoghurt/cream pots
û Engine oil or antifreeze containers
û Glass bottles and jars
û Expanded polystyrene
û Tetrapak drinks cartons
û Undelivered newspapers/catalogues from a delivery round

 

IF I CAN’T GET MY WASTE TO A RECYCLING SITE, CAN IT BE COLLECTED?

 Re3 doesn’t collect bulky items from residents. However, if you call SITA on 0800 838878 they will provide you with confirmation of costs and collection details. See below the categories of items which they will deal with and current charges:

Fridges, freezers and combined fridge/freezers

This collection service currently costs £31.20 per item (discounts available for the elderly and infirm). All shelves and loose compartments are to be removed prior to collection.

Bulky Items* (excluding televisions and computer monitors).

This collection service currently costs £19.70 for collection of up to 5 items from the list below:

- Household furniture such as beds, wardrobes, sofas, tables and chairs (Not fixtures and fittings)

- Carpets – 1 room’s carpet classed as 1 item

- Washing machines, tumble dryers and dishwashers

- Household electrical goods

- Garden furniture such as tables and chairs, but not swings, swing seats, rotary washing lines or aerials

- Boxes or bags of household rubbish (but not garden rubbish) – 3 boxes or bags make up 1 item

Televisions and computer monitors. These have to be collected and disposed of separately as they are classed as hazardous waste. Cost is £19.50 per 5 items

Other Items. For a bespoke charge SITA will also collect other items such as:

- Fixtures and fittings

- Patio and internal doors

- Radiators

- Loose builders’ rubble

- Central heating boilers

- Garden equipment or rollers
