The committee meets approximately six times a year and report on a monthly basis to the main council. The public are welcome.

The aim of our committee is to monitor all the roads in the parish throughout the year making notes of our concerns that relate to speed limits, condition, drainage, road markings, road signs and danger spots. We submit a regular report to Wokingham Unitary listing our concerns and putting pressure on them to improve our current problem areas. We have been very successful in this area and will continue with this process.

We have some very straight and dangerous roads within the parish that ‘demand’ better safety features. We are still looking at ways we can influence the Unitary council to either put speed cameras or other safety measures on these roads. Other roads are also considered dangerous from speeding traffic and we have used and will continue to use SID (Speed Indication Device) on these roads to educate those errant motorists. We will also continue to canvass the Unitary to reduce speed limits on all the dangerous stretches of road.

As part of our 5 year plan we intend to continue our support for the Unitary’s Rural Roads initiative including the Quiet Lanes Initiative. Encourage the authorities to enforce speed restrictions, improve road signing and continue to support the Safer Routes to School scheme. We are also planning to have a maximum speed limit of 40 mph on all roads in Finchampstead, coordinated with clear markings on roads and road signs.

Should you also wish to make contact with the Roads & Road Safety Committee contact details can be found on the members page to the left. Meeting schedules can be found here. Agendas and minutes are located here.
