Are you looking to find support with managing a health condition or looking for new social networks to join? Are you a parent looking for different activities for children in your area? Are you someone wanting to find out about local sports or music clubs that you can fit in around work?
Wokingham Borough Council is reaching out to its residents to raise awareness of its free Community Navigator service which provides residents with information about where they can find the support they need within their community and from local and national charities.
Community Navigators, who are available on the phone and online, have time to talk through possible local services available that are suitable for your requirements.
“Community Navigation can make a huge contribution to an individual’s health and wellbeing and we are pleased that this vital project, funded by the Better Care Fund, is able to assist so many of our residents”, said Cllr Charles Margetts, executive member for health, wellbeing and adult services.
“If you or someone you care about is in need of a little help or guidance to find out about all the wonderful activities going on and services available in your community get in contact with the Community Navigators today.”
The Community Navigator service, delivered by Involve Community Services, is a free service funded by the Better Care Fund, which also works closely with the Friendship Alliance who promote friendship to reduce the impact of loneliness and isolation across the borough.
Residents can access the service themselves or through a referral from a GP, social worker or a family member. The Community Navigator will explore a range of options within the community for the individual and will signpost and encourage them to attend groups, activities and services that can help them meet their needs.
