The Met office has issued the rain warning detailed below. The council’s contractor has been mobilised to prepare for possible flooding and to focus on the usual hotspot areas. The Met Office has described the likelihood as being low but with medium impacts.

Today / Tomorrow:

Areas of locally heavy rain will move north this morning and may linger across the Thames Valley for much of the day but some drier interludes may develop across Berkshire and Surrey.  We could see another 5-10 mm this afternoon.  Further locally heavy rain is expected to move from the east during the evening and overnight, clearing to the west during Saturday morning although it may continue in the west of the Thames Valley through much of the day.  Further east across the rest of the Thames Valley and across Surrey it will become mainly dry with sunny spells developing.

Saturday night / Sunday:

The areas of rain over or just to the west of the Thames Valley will return eastwards again on Saturday evening and night bringing further locally heavy rain or showers to the rest of the Thames Valley but will gradually weaken is it moves across Surrey overnight.  Surrey looks like being fine and dry with sunny spells on Sunday but cloudy conditions with light rain look set to continue across the Thames Valley and these conditions will spread southeast to affect Surrey during the evening and night.
