Wokingham Borough Council has declared a Climate Emergency. The Borough Council is responsible for providing statutory services such as highways, education and social services. It also owns and manages a lot of buildings and other facilities which it can directly influence. You can find out more about what the Borough Council is doing by visiting www.wokingham.gov.uk
Finchampstead Parish Council is a local council and has a different role to the Borough Council, but there is still plenty we can do to help address the climate emergency and we are developing an action plan for this.
We cant do this alone and we need everyone to get involved – the residents and businesses in the Parish and our local groups and organisations.
Green Home Grants Now Available to Local Residents
Wokingham Borough Council is encouraging homeowners
and landlords to apply for a government green homes grant
towards the cost of installing energy efficient and low-carbon heating improvements which could help save up to £600 a year on energy bills. The government will provide vouchers worth up to £5,000 to help cover two-thirds of the cost of energy efficiency home improvements, such as home insulation or low carbon heating.
The council declared a climate emergency last year and committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030. In July of this year, the council set out its roadmap on how it will achieve that.
