A Coronavirus Mobile Testing Unit will be at the FBC Centre Car Park on Thursday 18 February from 9am to 3pm. The car park will be completely closed to others that day.

Attendance at the site will be via appointment/booking only, meaning only those with a pre-booked appointment will be seen.

Testing is only available for those with coronavirus symptoms – a high temperature, a new continuous cough, or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste. Anyone with one or more of these symptoms should book a test at nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119. Booking slots can be allocated the day before for morning appointments the day after, or in the morning for same day afternoon appointments.

As part of the Department of Health & Social Care’s (DHSC) intention to widen access to Covid-19 testing through Mobile Testing Units (MTUs), Thames Valley Local Resilience Forum (TVLRF) has been working closely with each partner local authority to identify, select and develop additional MTU sites to increase the overall number of approved sites.  The FBC Car park  has been approved by DHSC as a MTU site for our community.  If the Thursday session is successful a further session is likely to take place later this month.

The Department for Health and Social Care unit will be operated by Private Sector contractors from Serco and Mitie.

Anyone testing positive for the virus will be contacted by NHS Test and Trace to help them trace their contacts. This will help to identify who they may have been in close contact with, protecting others from further transmission.

Close contacts of those testing positive will also hear from NHS Test and Trace, asking them to stay at home for 14 days to prevent them from unknowingly spreading the virus. They will be advised to also book a test if they develop symptoms.
