Garden waste collections restart

Garden waste collections will restart in Wokingham borough today (14 January) following a short temporary suspension due to the impact of Covid-19.

Over 40 per cent of staff at our borough’s waste collection contractor Veolia were off due to the impact of Covid-19, with a small number of positive cases and most of the rest having to self isolate.

As a result of this, Veolia had to temporarily suspend the garden waste service on Monday (11 January) in order to protect the essential kerbside collections of general waste, recycling and food waste.

Additional staff are now in place and Veolia are able to restart garden waste collections.

Garden waste due for collection from tomorrow onwards should be put out for collection as normal.

Garden waste not collected between Monday and Wednesday (11-13 January) due to the suspension should be left out on Saturday (16 January) when it will be collected. Additional collections are being put on to catch up on what has been missed.

Garden waste collections should return to the normal days from Monday (18 January). If there is further disruption, we will provide updates to residents.
