Join in the CPRE Star Count

Between 6-14 February we want you to help us map the nation’s view of the night sky by counting the number of stars you can see in the constellation of Orion. Will you be taking part?

This year will be a little different. We’ll be asking everyone to take part from home. You can take part from your garden, balcony, doorstep or even bedroom window!

We think that dark and starry skies are a special part of our countryside. Nothing beats looking upwards to see velvety blackness, with twinkling constellations as far as the eye can see. But many of can’t see the stars, especially if we live in or near a town or city.

Taking part is simple. All you have to do is look to the night sky on a clear night, count the number of stars you can see within the Orion constellation, and submit your count on our website.
